If you would prefer, you can travel to the Island Via Southampton to East Cowes, whilst this isn't necessarily the quickest way to get to the Island, as you will have to drive through Southampton to get to the ferry terminal, if you live in or around Southampton, this could be ideal, alternatively at very busy times of the year it may be the only available route.
We do not recommend this route if you are travelling on foot as there is no train service from East Cowes to Shanklin although you may be happy taking a taxi, which will take around 30 minutes from East Cowes to lower Hyde.
