There are plenty of great reasons for visiting the Isle of Wight - the foodie experience, the great kids’ entertainment and the gorgeous beaches among them. But you don’t have to spend a fortune to enjoy a wonderful holiday on the island. In fact, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the Isle of Wight on a budget - which means you’ll save enough to come back again!

 Book the best ferry deals

If you want to save money on your holiday travel, you’re definitely better off booking to travel by car with a group of friends and family. That way, you’ll cut the costs per person, because the ferry companies charge by the vehicle.

Book as early as you can and shop around for the best deals. Supermarkets often offer affordable travel as part of their rewards programmes.

 Buy memberships before you travel

For most people, a visit to the Isle of Wight isn't complete without visiting the many historic sites that the island boasts. If you intend to visit Osborne House and Carisbrooke Castle, then it could be worth your while taking out English Heritage membership, as up to 12 children can visit these attractions for free.

The National Trust also has some brilliant sites on the Isle of Wight, including the Needles and Bembridge Fort. Both the National Trust and English Heritage offer discounted membership for students and older people and both offer free car parking which is a valuable extra, especially in high season!

When you consider that entry for a family to Osborne House is almost the same price as an annual membership, it makes good sense to buy in advance, and you can use your membership to visit all their wonderful sites on the mainland too.

 Enjoy free days out

While the historic sites are well worth a visit, there are so many things you can do for free that will make your holiday incredibly memorable. Catch the sunset at Colwell Bay or Gurnard after enjoying a day on one of the beautiful beaches or visit the donkey sanctuary and enjoy a day with these gentle creatures - a donation is appreciated, but entry is free. Enjoy the excitement of a trip to the lifeboat station or some world-class stargazing.

The New Battery at the Needles is free to visit and tells the bizarre story of the Isle of Wight’s entry into the space race, while there are some lovely parks and playgrounds for kids to enjoy. Best of all, you can hunt for dinosaurs and red squirrels and take a trip to the stunning Devil’s Chimney, all for free!

 Enjoy a caravan holiday

Caravan holidays are back in fashion. Not only are they an affordable way to holiday, but they offer all the comforts of home while putting you in touch with the great outdoors - and that’s great for de-stressing!

Located near beautiful Shanklin, our caravan is situated on a park with all amenities, including a pool. So if you want to enjoy some quality time on the island, book today!
